Woof Wednesday

I really think Grammy is to blame. Really. If it didn’t taste so good I wouldn’t keep trying to get it.

Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle. Did you get in trouble too this week? Yeah. I did.

The other day Grampy was having the leftover pasta salad for lunch. Grammy makes a great pasta salad. She makes it with pasta and ….. salad, I guess…but it smells so good. And I can now tell you that it tastes just as good.

Ya see, Grampy had a bowl of it. He was eating and then he put it down on the bar and I thought he was done. Really! Where I come from, if you walk away from your bowl…you’re done! It turns out he was just going to check the mail. Yeah he wasn’t too happy when he came back. I had my whole head in the bowl. I had to go sit in the corner.

This weekend Grammy and Grampy were gone for a few hours. You know I don’t like to be alone. Baxter’s no help because all he wants to talk about is sports. The humans went to a “family reunion.” Ahem, family? And why wasn’t I included? Not to mention the big golden retriever guy? What can I say? I got bored. Aunty Kat had a new pair of sneakers delivered here so I tore into the box to see if I liked them. I do by the way. Grammy wasn’t too happy that time.

So yeah, I’m keeping them busy. I think it keeps them young.

Did I tell you about the other trick I like to play? We have a chain in the backyard that hooks on at the porch. Grammy and Grampy can just hook us on it at the backdoor and we can roam all around the yard. Well there’s a tree in the backyard and every now and then I get the chain wrapped around the tree and I can’t make it to the backdoor. I usually sit down and bark once or twice to get the humans to come out and help me. I put on my best, “I’m trapped” face and they come out. It’s not that difficult, we just have to walk back around the tree the way we came but I usually make them feel like I couldn’t do it without them. “Thank you for saving me!” Of course I could do it myself but I want them to feel needed. I care about my people. See what I do for them?

I gotta keep them moving.

Yeah that pasta salad was good! I think I’d put that in the Top 5. Oh I never told you the Oscar Top 5?

  1. Meat falling from Grampy’s grill. (Careful. It’s hot.)
  2. Pizza crust.
  3. Grammy’s pasta salad.
  4. My nightly peanut butter on a cracker.
  5. Cheez Its from Uncle Matt’s room.

This list is subject to change. I’m always researching.

Woof Wednesday is the world through the eyes of 11-year old Oscar the Beagle. Oscar lives in Fairhaven with Pete, Priscilla, Uncle Matt and his best buddy Baxter the Golden Retriever.

Oh Oscar ! How can a ‘senior” beagle like you still get into so much trouble every week?? What is Baxter doing while you roam around seeking mischief ??? Doesn’t he try to impart some wisdom to you about what the consequences might be if you get caught ?? Grampy and Grammy might need to have a talk with him about being a mentor ;>) …I take it he is sleeping on the job ! :>)
