If You’ve Never Done It Before – Do It!

We had a nice day yesterday as we finally made it to the Huttleston Marketplace outside Fairhaven High School. I had been meaning to make it their several times this summer but something always seemed to come up.

While we were there I noticed that the Visitor’s Center and Museum was open. I’ve lived in Fairhaven for about 35 years and I had never been there ….. so I went.

Here’s a link to their website.

It was very interesting to see what a turn-of-the-century classroom was like. Girls on one side and boys across the hall. Well THAT’S no fun. There was a room set up like an old Victorian parlor and plenty of information about Henry Huttleston Rogers.

It was fun to go in there and finally do something I had been meaning to do…..someday.

That’s something I’ve been writing about lately for those that have had a life-changing experience, whether it was health-related or a job or personal relationship. It’s very frustrating when you can no longer do the things that you used to do. You don’t know what to do with yourself. One thing I suggest is to think of those things you were always meaning to do but never had the time for. If you have the ability, you now have the time. Try it!

If there’s some place in the city or around town that you’ve never been to, what’s stopping you now? Take a ride, see whatever it is. Make a list of the places you’d like to go.

I’m sure you’re like me: We’ll drive by some store, restaurant for museum and you’ll hear me say, “I’ve never been there.” Why not go?

What book haven’t you read or what movie haven’t you seen? I’ve mentioned before how Priscilla works two 24-hour shifts. Those two nights when she is away, I try to find a movie that was popular or successful that I’ve never seen. I did that with Orson Wells “Citizen Kane.” I had always heard about this movie but never saw it. The same with “Casablanca.” I knew the famous lines but I had never seen the whole movie. Friday night I watched “Stand By Me” with a young Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix and Keifer Sutherland. Not bad.

It’s just a suggestion but it might be something you or a friend can try. If you can say, “I’ve never been there,” then go! If you say, “I’ve never seen the whole film,” then watch It! “I’ve never read that,” well read It!

If there is no reason why you can’t do it, why wait?
