A Breath Of Fresh Air

Blue skies

I couldn’t help myself! I did it! When I woke up this morning I opened every window in the house!

The heatwave has ended!

Now let me first say, I love summer. I never mean to wish it away and I’m not one of those that wait for sweater weather and pumpkin lattes. However….this year has been hot!

We’ve had two heatwaves in the past month. While the temperatures on the coast stayed around 85 or 88 with humidity and high dew points, many towns and cities registered in the 90s. A heat wave is determined by three or more days at 90 degrees or above.

Oh but wasn’t it great to get some fresh air in the house today? I walked the dog this morning and everyone I met on the walk seemed so relieved and happy. “Nice change, huh?”

I was beginning to feel bad for my dog. We just took him on short walks and even then he would arrive back at his water bowl with his tongue almost dragging the floor.

Some rain, but not enough

We did get some rain though it wasn’t nearly enough. This has been unreal! I don’t think we’ve had to cut the grass in a month. You remember grass don’t you? It actually used to be green back in the day!

I felt bad for the reporters too trying to find yet another angle to cover the same story.

This just in!

“It’s still hot! Back to you!”

As I sit here writing this, I forgot how quiet the house can be when there’s no A/C humming. I could almost hear the machine sigh as I turned it off. “Rest well my friend. I’m sure we’re not done with you yet.”

I started the summer by trying to sit in the sun for 30 minutes a day to get my Vitamin D. I’ll admit: the past week or so I’ve been hiding from the sun or sitting in the shade.

It looks like the mid 80s return to the coast next week but for now… let’s all enjoy! That afternoon sea breeze might actually be enjoyable today, instead of just blowing the hot air around.

Out here at Maple Park campground in Wareham we got to deluge of rain thunder and lightning actually made a river in our campsite. I loved it though didn’t mind it a bit played around in it my hair gets so soft from rain water. My neighbor told me the other day that up in our neck of the woods there North Fairhaven the last time we got rain was June 19th and it was just a half an inch he has a water gauge so I trust that.
