“Pete’s Daily Connection”

Woof Wednesday

Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle!

I gotta admit it….I kinda like this weather. It’s not too hot and it’s not too cold.

We already have leaves on the ground so there’s all kinds of things to smell. I sneeze a lot though. Grammy says it’s the wet leaves after it rains.

This happens every year. The leaves in our yard fall off the trees! And I don’t know why! They looked good, all nice and green, but then – WHOMP! They all fall down! I don’t understand why the tree grows leaves only to throw them away after the hot time. It would be a lot less work for my Uncle Matt if they just kept the leaves on the tree or didn’t grow them in the first place if they don’t like them.

I think Grammy gets a little upset with us when the leaves fall. It’s almost like she thinks we play “Hide the Poop” because the leaves cover up ….uh….stuff. Yesterday she stepped on some “stuff” with her work boots. Yeah, there’s a lot of grooves on the bottom of those work boots. I tried to be a good boy for the rest of the day.

Yeah these are the days when I like to snuggle with Grampy while he watches that Football stuff on the TV Box. He stretches out on the couch with a fuzzy blanket and I sneak underneath the blanket. I could stay that way all day but he usually drops some chips or Funday Sunday Snacks and, well, that’s my job. Cleaning the floor for my Grammy.

Yeah people come over to watch the football stuff. They talk and get excited sometimes but there’s food! Lots and lots of food! I try to convince them that they can’t possibly eat it all and we shouldn’t let any of it go to waste because there’s starving Beagles RIGHT HERE! LOOK AT ME!

It doesn’t work. Yet. I’ll keep trying. I am one determined Beagle.

I like having everyone home and I’m happy to say the suitcases were put away. Grampy is back to his usual routine. He sleeps until Baxter wakes him up to get our breakfast. Usually Bax will go to the side of the bed and lick his hand. If that doesn’t work he gives him a little pat with his paw. Who am I kidding? He gives him a smack! Then if that doesn’t work, he stands just far enough back so Grampy can’t reach him and he barks. He keeps barking until Grampy gets up. Ha ha! It works every time! Hey! We’re hungry.

Then Grampy has his coffee while he stares at his phone and contemplates the world. He must have a lot to contemplate because he does it every day. Plus, why do humans stare at their phone? Are they reading some terrific stories? Are there cartoons? Tons of puppy videos? It must be something big because they all do it.

I don’t think I’d like to have a cellphone. I really don’t have anyone to call. I guess i could have my buddy Baxter be in my contacts but he’s usually right here. I pretty much have everything I need. Kibble, a warm house, and my Grampy with his comfortable lap.

Ooo but I heard you can order food with just an app. Maybe I should rethink this. I’ll see if I can get that new iPhone. Maybe some cool ring tones.
