Guess Who Turned One? – “Raising Grampy”

Hello Peoples! It’s me, Carson, and guess who is having his first birthday? No it’s not Grampy. He’s had 112 of them.

It’s me!

This week I turned one year old! I celebrated with my mommy, daddy and the whole family. Yeah, we go back years! Or, at least one.

There was a weird moment after dinner. Everyone was singing this song looking at me. I didn’t know what I was supposed to do.

Have you ever tried this thing called cake? It was awesome! Mommy was so excited for me…until I put the frosting stuff in my hair.

That was the first time I think I ever went straight from my high chair to tubby time.

All of my aunts and uncles and cousins came to visit. My cousin Liam took a plane from Texas to come with his mommy and daddy. I think they took one of my Uncle Steven’s planes from the Navy. He works with a bunch of them.

My cousin Ella drove up from Virginia with her mommy and daddy. They didn’t fly because my Aunty Marla is going to have another baby soon. Either that or my Uncle Steven wouldn’t share his planes with my Uncle Doug.

Wow! What a year it’s been!

It all started in the hospital. I forget why we were there but that’s where I met Grammy and Grampy.

I trained the guy right from the start. He’s pretty good at snuggling.

Then I met Charlie. He gets a little jealous whenever I’m with Grammy.

I went to Virginia to see where Ella lives.

Then I went to Texas to see where Liam lives. It was hot. Texas is big. And hot.

Back home I did lots of stuff! I went to see my Uncle Hunter play his guitar thing and sing.

I started going to church with my mommy. The minister lady likes it when I help her with the church things.

Then there was the time I discovered Charlie had a cute nose.

One day I learned how to laugh. I really like laughing. It makes me feel all good inside. You should try it some day if you never have.

When my mom went back to work at the high school football thing I would go and visit sometime. It was cold! I wore my bear suit. I loved my bear suit.

Then we had this thing called Christmas. Have you ever had a Christmas? I would definitely recommend you try it sometime. There were all kinds of decorations and presents!

Grammy had this awesome shirt!

There was a big football game in the winter. We went to Grammy and Grampy’s house to watch it and there was so much food. Nobody was happy when the game ended though. I guess they were mad because they had to go back to work the next day.

Then we had something called “snow.” And then more snow. And more snow.

Grampy stayed at our house for a few days because of all the ice and snow. He’s a pretty good bedtime story tellerer.

I played a lot at my Grammy and Grampy’s.

When Springtime came my Grammy was all excited to get outside. I drove my slick new ride around the neighborhood.

I discovered slides and swings.

I also liked my library.

So yeah, it’s been a busy year.

I learned lots of stuff including how to crawl. They tell me walking comes next.

Get ready Grampy!

”Raising Grampy” is a look at the world through the eyes of Pete’s grandson, one-year old Carson. Carson lives in Acushnet with his mommy, daddy and puppy Kenzie.
