I Like The Rain

(Written on a rainy day this week.)

Oh I love a rainy day. I know, the song says “I Love A Rainy Night” but I do love a rainy day.

It wasn’t always like this but now I find that I love a rainy day. A rainy day is a good time to relax. It’s a good time to read and a good time to take a nap.

Back in my day

When I was younger I was not a fan of rainy days. A rainy day meant that you couldn’t go outside or maybe your game would get cancelled.

When I got a little older I was not a fan because if it rained I couldn’t cut the grass or I couldn’t play golf or any of the other things on my “to-do” list. And if there were people coming over for a birthday party that meant we all had to be inside. Yikes!

Now that I’m older and the children have all grown it’s nice to have a rainy day. It’s nice to take a break and rest or just to think.

We’re always in a rush

We always seem to be in a rush. You have to hurry to get this done or pick up the groceries or clean the house or do the laundry. We look for quick meals to make and we seem to rush through lunch or dinner because we have more to do, even though some of us spend far too much time on Facebook or Tik Tok.

We go online to read about what’s going on or watch videos. Even that seems rushed. I don’t know about you but one of the first things I do with a video is look to see how long it is.

“Oh less than a minute? I can do that.”

“9:39!!!! I don’t have that much time!”

As I write this, it’s a rainy day and everything seems to have slowed down and I think that’s fantastic. I’m going to write a little, read a little, maybe watch a show, maybe take a nap.

“Medically retired”

I know that I’m blessed in the sense that I have some free time. I saw a post the other day that I’m adopting: I’m “medically retired.” I didn’t plan on retiring yet but my medical situation seemed to have changed those plans.

Now if it keeps raining for several days I get a little edgy but for now, it’s comforting.

Even if you are extremely busy try to find a rainy day or afternoon and just —— STOP. Enjoy it. Rest. Read. Relax. It helps to restore your sanity.

    Hi Pete !
Yes a rainy day is nice when retired …especially rain in Florida…very much needed with our heat …except for this past week when we got TS ETA ! that kind of rain we can do without ;>) I agree though that a few rainy days in a row is not exactly comforting ..
