Annual Blog “Favorite Halloween Candy”

Do you have those “annual” things you have to do? A yearly physical, a trip to the dentist or getting your eyes tested are just a few that come to mind. Sometimes you dread making these appointments and then checking off your to-do list.

Then there are other times when an annual event can be fun! Which leads us to the “Annual Favorite Halloween Candy Blog.” My favorites don’t seem to change much but I have noticed a difference in some national blogs that come out.

This all started when I saw a post from a friend that showed the favorite candy in Massachusetts was….. wait for it……Junior Mints.

I do like Junior Mints but… #1?

Then I googled, “America’s Favorite Halloween Candy by State” (That’s how we do in-depth research here at PeteBraley.com) and found a different answer. This site said…… Starburst. Again, a good candy but….#1?

You can check the other states by clicking here.

“My three….”

My three very rarely change:

  1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  2. Hershey Bar
  3. Kit Kat

And let’s not even start with Candy Corn. Don’t like it. It’s a waste of sugar.

“Things to keep in mind”

I know that this is a confusing year with many people wondering if there will even be any trick-or-treating. The latest from the mass.gov website as of 10/7/20 says….

Some things to keep in mind in celebrating Halloween this year include:

  • Enjoy Halloween outside rather than attending indoor events.
  • Place candy on a platter instead of a bowl
  • Instead of traditional trick or treating, opt for one-way trick-or-treating, with treats placed outside of the home for trick-or-treaters as a “grab and go” while keeping distance from others.
  • Consider leaving hand sanitizer by any treats left out for trick-or-treaters to use.

We’re just going to take my grandson to places we know even if that means he goes back and forth to his uncle‘s house several times. And we made sure to buy only our favorite candy this year. That way if no one comes to the door we’ll enjoy all of the leftover candy. Except the candy corn. Somehow there’s always leftover candy corn.

How about you? I’d love to hear your thoughts on trick-or-treating this year and of course——— what’s your favorite candy? I have no doubt someone will say…. Candy Corn!
