“Pete’s Daily Connection”

Woof Wednesday

Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle.

The other night I was watching the news with Grammy. Yeah, she thinks I’m asleep on my doggie bed but I’m really watching Lester with the big stories. Grampy always watched Lester Holt. He said he wore great ties. I just find him to be a fine journalist.

Anyway, they were talking about this Virus that’s going around. You know, the one the DOESN’T seem to bother dogs. Ha! Finally I can one-up you humans!

I guess it’s pretty serious for some. Grammy still has to work because she helps people on that ambulance thing. Grampy is boasting that he’s essential too because he’s daycare for little Liam. Uncle Matt doesn’t have school or work but he keeps busy with his music. I was surprised to hear that some people are having trouble with this “Social distancing.” Well Oscar to the rescue!

I consider myself an expert at “quarantining.” It’s what I do. It’s who I am. As for “social distancing:” I love it! I have spent years sleeping in the corner and only getting up for meal time.

I can’t believe that people are being told to stay in the house, avoid contact with other people — and they’re having a problem with this? Embrace it my friends!

All you have to do is follow my lead. Wake up in the morning and have some food. You people don’t even have to go outside you get to use the bathroom. And what’s up with all that toilet paper? I guess you’re planning to go A LOT! Then — nap! Wake up for lunch and then maybe grab the leash and we take a walk. After that, find the sunspot and nap! Next comes dinner time. Once you finish with that you can watch that fine example of journalistic integrity (who wears nice ties), Lester Holt. Then maybe a movie and you go to bed. That’s it! I’ve done it for years so I’m sure you can do it for however long this lasts.

I am happy that the food stores are still open so I can still have my kibble and hopefully Uncle Matt keeps a good supply of Cheez Its on hand. I did see that the Governor said Veterinarians are essential and they can stay open too. Well, you can’t win em all!

Stay safe! Hug a dog! (Ha! Because we can’t get it!) And if you need my help, see me after a nap.
