“Pete’s Daily Connection”

Woof Wednesday

Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle, just doing my part to help this family.

We believe that everyone should pull their own weight.

Grammy works on the ambulance thing and keeps this house shipshape. Grampy does whatever he does. Oh yeah. Take care of Baby Liam and whenever he’s home he cooks and drops things for me to eat.

Uncle Matt works a lot and he’s studying in college. He’s the future of this family! And he leaves me Cheez Its every now and then.

We haven’t quite figured out what Baxter does except bark whenever someone comes to the door, thinks about coming to the door or just wanders by.

I, on the other hand, have many responsibilities. It’s my job to sleep in Grampy’s spot until he gets home. We don’t want Grammy getting too comfortable or she’ll never get up. It’s my job to snuggle with Grammy so she won’t miss Grampy too much. I’m softer. It’s my job to lick the floor in case anyone dropped a bag of chips. And my other job, which is the reason for this story: closely monitor the recycling.

We keep a bin on the back porch so people can toss recyclables in it and then when that gets full, Grammy puts it in the barrell. I think it started because Grampy was lazy.

Grammy keeps chasing me out of the recycling bin but I’m only double checking to see if she got all the food out of the stuff. It’s supposed to be rinsed right? I make sure there’s no crumbs in the bottom of the boxes. I make sure there’s no more milk in the container, and that the tuna fish can is indeed ready to be tossed away. See? I’m only doing it for them! She’ll never understand me.

Do I get any thanks for my efforts? No! Just chased away again! Maybe I should go on strike for a week. Nah. I might miss a crumb or something.

Grammy learned a life lesson the other day. She was getting something out of the bottom cabinet when she left the door open. To me….that was an open invitation. “Help yourself!” So I did.

Did I mention that she keeps the backup supplies stored in that cabinet? I didn’t know what brown sugar tasted like until then. Not bad! I only got a little before she turned around. I gotta learn to be more stealthy. (Is that a word? It is now.)

Grammy’s life lesson: close the cabinet before turning around. I hope she forgets again.

Hi Oscar…sounds like a quieter week for you except for the under the cabinet hunting …dont’t worry…if I leave it open and my cat is around , he, also, is soon inside looking for food …sometimes even having the door closed on him !!
Try to stay out of the recycling bin ;>)
