“Pete’s Daily Connection”

Woof Wednesday

Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle.

What a crazy day we had the other day with the wind! It’s been a pretty quiet winter without much snow, which is okay with me. You don’t know how much snow really sucks (sorry), stinks, until you get it stuck in the pads of your feet. I guess you’d say stuck in your toes. Plus, being “vertically challenged” (aka – short), it makes going to the bathroom a real adventure! Sometimes Grammy shovels me a spot so my Yoo-hoo won’t get icy.

One day last week the wind was really blowin’! My ears were flapping even before I went outside!

I did go outside because…well I have to go outside, seems like several times a day. While I was out there – this HUGE branch came crashing down from our tree in the backyard. I went over to sniff and investigate. I figured this would be the ULTIMATE winner in a game of fetch!

I sniffed it from all angles trying to figure out how to pick it up when unbeknownst to me – HA! I always wanted to use that word – I got the stupid chain wrapped around the big branch. I was stuck. Whatever could I do?

I barked for Grammy to come out and rescue me but she must have been doing laundry or something. Something that she thought was more important than ME I guess. Fortunately my neighbors, Cody and Emma, heard me and they came to my rescue. They unhooked me from the chain that was tangled in the big branch and brought me into the house. “It’s okay Grammy. Go back to your laundry or Netflix or whatever. I’m fine. Just escaping death here.”

The whole house was shaking that night and the waves on the ocean were huge.

Once again Grammy is trying to get me to FaceTime Grampy.

We tried this once before but I can’t see anything. She says, “Look, look,” but I can’t see him. Baxter barks and runs to the back door. It’s just crazy.

I heard that Grampy is coming home next month for a visit. I suppose he’ll want his side of the bed back. Auntie Kat and Uncle Matt are going down to see the baby so they’re going to give Grampy a break.

It’ll be nice to see the big guy again. I may have to remind him of the house rules: I eat whenever I’m hungry, I eat when I MIGHT be hungry, and every other Oreo belongs to me.

That should do it.

He’ll probably want the couch back too.

that storm must have been scary…you have to watch out for those falling limbs !! So glad you have such nice neighbors looking out for you… Yes, I would make sure you have those house rules in order for when the ‘Big Guy” comes home, but maybe you could bend those rules a little and share ??
