“Pete’s Daily Connection”

Woof Wednesday

Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle, just living the life here during “Boys Week!” We’re drinkin’ beer in our boxers and watching wrestling! I don’t know what any of that means but Grampy told me to open with that for a laugh. You laughed right?

Hello?

Grammy and Auntie Kathryn went down to Sarah’s in Virginia Beach with some other girl friends and said it was a “Girl’s Week” with no boys allowed.

So far everything is going all right. I do miss Grammy because she takes us for a walk every day when she’s not working. Grampy goes for one in the morning but the family thinks Baxter would be too much for him to handle. I would be perfect in every way of course but if Baxter should see a cat or one of those evil squirrels, (They have those shifty little eyes and what’s up with those tails? Who are they trying to impress with all that fluff?) Yeah it would be kinda funny to see Baxter dragging Grampy up the street. So he just plays with us in the house.

There’s been some prime napping going on let me tell you. I think Grampy has taken a few too!

Grampy has been a stickler though ever since he cleaned all the fur off the couches a few days ago. Everytime I jump up he tells me to jump down. He’s determined to not have a messy house when Grammy gets back. I don’t know if he’ll have to sleep outside for a night if it’s dirty but he’s taking this seriously.

We do share the bed at night. Well, “share” is debatable I guess. The other night grampy was complaining again because he had no leg room. I sleep down by his feet on his right side and since Grammy is usually on his left, Baxter sleeps by his feet on that left side. We leave him about four inches, what’s the problem? He was saying something the other night about having all this space on a queen size mattress but I don’t want to sleep in Grammy’s spot because just when I get used to it she’s probably gonna want it back. And the other night he was tossing and turning all night. I guess his Dragon Show ended this week and I don’t think his team won. He must have been upset. I guess it’s like that Super Bowl thing. No it can’t be like the Super Bowl, he had no Dragon Show snacks. Maybe his dragon will win next year.

I finished taking that medicine for my pneumonia. That means I get one less cracker at night now. I don’t think that’s fair. I think I should still get the cracker and peanut butter for my pain and suffering.

Yesterday Grampy dropped my allergy pill (I’m stuffy) and I ate it right off the floor. He looked at me and said, “Why am I giving you a pill in the peanut butter if you’ll just eat it anyway?” I almost blew it. I better not do that again. They think they have to hide our medicine in the peanut butter and put it on a cracker. It’s a pretty good thing Baxter and I have going so I don’t want to mess that up.

Yeah the old guy is doing all right keeping up with mealtime and snacks. He said he can’t believe how many times a day I ask to go out but I have my job to do. I have to patrol the perimeter, keep the family safe, follow the sunspot and try to reach the bird feeder. Some day I tell ya. Some day.

I’ll be happy when Grammy gets home and I think Grampy will too. I think he’s getting lonely because I heard him talking politics with Baxter the other day and I’m sure Bax is a Libertarian.

Yeah Grammy will be home soon and she lets me up on the couch! Haha!
