“Pete’s Daily Connection”

Woof Wednesday

Hi guys! It’s me…..Oscar the Beagle. I’m feeling much better. I guess I have to say something nice about the stupid Vet. I’m sorry…. the wonderful Vet.

If you didn’t read it last week, (Grampy says this is a “reset.” Whatever. I guess the guy likes to feel important.) If you missed it, I had pneumonia. I’ve had it before and we don’t know why I seem to be prone to it. The Vet puts me on a medicine for a week or so and it goes away. Grammy used her ear thingies from the ambulance and she said my lungs sound much better.

Grammy says one of the best signs that I’m feeling better is when I go back to acting like a rascal. What can I say, it seems like its been raining forever and Baxter and I can’t go for our long walks. It’s really getting kind of boring. Even when we just go outside we get all wet and our feet get muddy. The other day Grampy said he wished we could wipe our feet so I made sure to jump up on his side of the couch. I tried to wipe my feet there. Well he never said “where!”

Grammy was a little upset the other day. There was a bowl of candy that they put on a piece of furniture near the couch. I started thinking that if I climbed on the back of the couch I could just stretch my body out and maybe reach the candy bowl.

Hey! I was doing them a favor and reaching it by myself. No help needed. Did they appreciate my efforts? No! Last night they moved the bowl because I was getting close.

Grampy thinks I’m better because I sleep more peacefully. I overheard him talking to Grammy the other night because I guess I was dreaming. He said he wished he knew what I was dreaming about because my feet were going and I even made a little “Woof” sound. I wish I could tell him because those are my happy thoughts. I dream of a beautiful sunny day in a nice big park with green green grass. I don’t know where it is exactly because it’s certainly not around here with all the rain.

There’s a deep blue sky and Grampy and I are running and laughing. He has no aches or pains and I don’t have stupid pneumonia.

Grampy always jokes and says I must be dreaming about a cheeseburger. I’m not gonna lie, a cheeseburger would be sweet but I really dream about having fun with my humans.

You better wish us luck. Grammy is traveling down to Virginia again, this time with Aunty Kathryn and some other friends. They are going on a “Girl’s Trip” so there’s no Grampy allowed. I say wish us luck because we’ll be stuck with Grampy and Uncle Matt for the week. They do a pretty good job but Grampy can’t really take us for long walks. He does remember meal time and our medicine with peanut butter on a Ritz cracker.

You know what he does now? When it’s bedtime he puts my medicine on a cracker with the peanut butter, then he does one for Baxter, and then he makes THREE for himself! The other night he told Grammy it was his “Handlers Fee.” I gotta respect the guy for that.

Well that’s all for this week. I hope you have a good week and here’s hoping Captain Clutz tries to bake and drops plenty of things!
