Do You Believe In Signs?

Red Cardinal

I come to you from Virginia Beach again on this Sunday. Kind of feels like my home-away-from-home after spending so much time here with Liam a year ago.

I’m happy to say that we seem to fall right back into place when I see him. I’ve left some clothes and toiletries here so it makes packing easy and I have my own space in the closet and the drawers. Liam even calls the guest room “Grampy’s Room.” Yes!

One thing that’s really cool was even more wonderful to see.

Sarah had sent us a picture of a Cardinal that flies right up to their back door, lands on the handle and then knocks on the window with his beak.

It was cool to see the picture but even more impressive to see it actually happen.

Have you ever heard of that before?

A quick Google search gave me plenty of articles to read. One was from digestfromexperts.com.

It said, among other things, that the visits are typically seen as a good omen.

“You are in for a special treat if a Red Cardinal comes to visit you, that is according to lore that describes a visit from this bird as a sign that you are also being visited by the spirit of a recently departed loved one. This can be a sign of reassurance that your loved one is still watching over you. When a Red Cardinal visits outside your window they are showing you that there is someone in the Spirit world who cares about you and wants to check in on you.”

Hmm.

Sarah’s Godmother passed away a few years ago, never having met Liam. Sarah has often felt a closeness to her Aunty Karen even in the years since she’s passed. I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here but I’m also NOT saying it. I honestly feel there’s a ton of things going on that I have no clue about.

The blog also says that some people see a Cardinal pecking on your window as a sign that a positive blessing is coming your way. There is also a belief that you are about to have a lucky breakthrough related to something you are passionate about.

Of course it could be just a bird that wants to get in the house or he sees his own reflection, thinks it’s another bird and he’s telling that other bird to butt out! We humans seem to look for secret meanings in everything I guess.

It’s more fun to think there’s a spiritual meaning, plus, if it brings comfort to think that way… who am I to say it’s not so.

What do you think? Do you see signs?

    Hi Pete !
yes, we also, in Florida have cardinals that land on our window frame and peck at the glass …every year this happens with the male and female visiting…they are beautiful.
My cat likes to sit on the sill and gaze at them …doesnt bother the birds one bit !

I don’t get so many physical signs but every day I get some reminder about my grandfather and all of the wisdom he shed with me. Every time I’m faced with a dilemma I think,” what would bumpy do?”
I have a second generation of cardinals who come to my bird feeders out on my porch they are magical to me for whatever reason.
