Did you ever notice that you have just the right place for your “stuff?” I’m in a different house now so I have to find all new places for my “stuff.”
If you don’t know, I’m in Virginia Beach for a few months taking care of my grandson, Liam, while his parents are at work. I’m staying with my son Doug while his wife is deployed and he has made me very comfortable. They have a guest room and I have my own closet plus a chest of drawers and a shelf unit where I can put my things, or my “stuff.” It was funny though when I was setting things up because it was all brand new.
“I’ll put this here and that there,” but it’s all totally different from what I have at home.
Think about it: Priscilla and I have lived in our house for over 30 years and for most or those years, everything had a place. Now I have to find new places. Actually, there were times when she moved things and, for fun, she didn’t tell me. She let me figure it out.
“Hey, where is the (item)?”
“Oh I moved it to the other cabinet. Didn’t I tell you? Oh well.”
I thought I was doing okay until yesterday when Doug went to the key hooks where they keep their keys and things.
“My goodness, who did this?” as he was rearranging things because his keys went on another hook and the dog leash was in the wrong place. (At least I hung them up right?)
I’m doing a little better cooking as I’ve discovered where my daughter-in-law keeps things in her kitchen. I THINK I put everything in the right place when I emptied the dishwasher.
Oh and just when I thought I had a place for my “stuff,” Priscilla came down this week and brought me “more stuff!” It was good to get my fuzzy bathrobe but where am I gonna put it? She packed an extra bag with things I didn’t bring down before either because I didn’t have space or I didn’t want to fly with it. (I’m talking 12-year-old bottle of scotch here.)
Priscilla made one of her monthly trips down here to see Liam this week and it was nice. It was great to see her, plus, it gave me a break for a few days as I happily shared him with Grammy because she was only here a few days.
So after three weeks I’ve only lost one thing. I just can’t remember where I put my ear buds. I’m sure I had found a wonderful new place for them, part of my “stuff.”
Now if I can just remember my wonderful new place.
