Raising Grampy – Chapter 1

Hi everybody! My name is Liam and I’m — uh — I don’t know how old I am because I can’t count yet. I can’t even get my fingers to do what I want. I keep poking myself. Gotta work on that.

I live in Virginia Beach with my mommy and daddy. They’re names are —- mommy and daddy. We have two dogs, Luke and Yoda. I have a bunch of grammies and grampies. Two of them live far away in a place called San Diego. My mom says she’ll take me to the zoo there someday. I think I’ll like that — if someone can tell me what a zoo is.

My other grandparents live in Ma….Massa…that’s a big word. They live up north but they come visit a lot. I went there for Christmas. It was fun. I was cold.

I’m getting used to everything here. I’ve had a bunch of fun with my mom but now she tells me she has to go back to something called “work.” I don’t know if that’s a playground for big people or if they have a ball pit but she hasn’t been there for awhile I guess. Mommy and daddy were looking for someone who could take care of me while they work and that’s when my Grampy Pete said he could do it. He said he was looking for something to do in his life so…here’s me! Glad I could help.

He’s been here to visit before. He takes me for walks, reads me stories, and he’s a really good cuddler. So yeah, he’s going to come here and take care of me when mom goes back to work. She works in a bank but I guess only the big people get to play with the money.

Grampy is going to stay with my Uncle Doug because Uncle Doug has the whole big house to himself while my Auntie Marla is away on a big boat. She went for a cruise with 5,000 of her friends. I think it’s called the “Navy.” I guess it’s a vacation club or something.

So yeah, Grampy is going to take care of me. He’s been around like, forever. He’s known me all my life. He even came to the hospital to hang out when I was born.

I don’t know if he has any experience raising a baby. Mom didn’t show me his resume. I’ll give him a chance though. If you want, I’ll keep sending you stories to tell you how he’s doing. Okay?
