Once again …. no one asked ME about this!
Hi guys! It’s me, Oscar the Beagle.
Grammy and Grampy went down to Virginia to see that baby thing again. Something about house-sitting for my Uncle Doug, Aunty Marla and their dog Roscoe. Grampy is a good dog-sitter. I like to think that I’ve taught him well.
They left early in the morning last week.
Baxter was not happy.
They left us with Uncle Matt and the thing I wanted to tell you about was that…HE CHANGED MEAL TIME!! Why?! When was this decided??!!
I don’t remember the memo about this. There was no discussion, no focus groups, no spread sheets or pie charts.
We’ve had a pretty good system here for a few years. We get up around 7 or 8:00 a.m. Baxter gets a scoop and a half and I get a scoop of kibble. A discrepancy that I’ve been meaning to mention a time for two. Then we have supper sometime after 4 p.m. It’s a system that has worked very well thank you.
This week Uncle Matt is in charge. He doesn’t like to get up early unless he has that college thing and then he gets up wicked early. He’s kind of grumpy when he has to get up for that college thing. At night, he works at a store with all those Christmas shoppers. I don’t see why he can’t just tell them, “I’ll be back in a little bit. Just browse around if you’d like.” Yeah, supper is late sometimes.
I’m afraid that I’m going to waste away to nothing. Baxter could stand to lose a few but me? I’m never fed enough as it is.
I tried to get in the bagels the other day on grocery day but Grammy caught me.
Other than that, we are getting ready for Christmas. Grammy brought this big Santa thingy downstairs.
It’s taller than me. It took me a while to get this stuffed bear in just the right spot.
We don’t have a tree inside yet. That’s another thing I’ve never understood about Christmastime. You put lights OUTSIDE the house and bring a tree INSIDE. I suppose it works because they keep doing it every year. Grammy doesn’t put presents under the tree anymore until Christmas morning. What can I say? I’m curious. There might be a Milkbone that got mixed in when they were doing all the wrapping.
So Baxter and I are just waiting for Grammy to come home. Grampy is going to stay until Uncle Doug and Aunty Marla get back. Grammy has to get back to that ambulance thing. Grammy says everyone is coming home for a New England Christmas and it’s my job to entertain the pups. Sarah is bringing her two dogs and Uncle Doug is bringing Roscoe. I just think I should get a few extra scoops of kibble at every meal just to keep my energy up.
And if I could have that at the usual time it would be even better.
Woof Wednesday is the world through the eyes of 11-year old Oscar the Beagle. Oscar lives in Fairhaven with Pete, Priscilla, Uncle Matt and his best buddy Baxter the Golden Retriever.
