Talkin’ Tunes on Tuesday
I posted a link to a song today. The song is “Aspenglow” by John Denver. I think of this song everytime I look at a new snowfall.
As I posted today, my brother Jeff was a big John Denver fan. We played “Take Me Home County Roads” at a get-together we had the summer after he died.
Every Christmas he would pull out the John Denver Christmas album, “Rocky Mountain Christmas,” to hear John’s version of some Christmas classics and of course, “Please Daddy Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas.” “Aspenglow” was always one of my favorites.
If you don’t have time to play it, or if you’re not in a place where you can play things (forgot the ear buds huh?), here are the lyrics:
See the sunlight through the pine
Taste the warm of winter wine
Dream of softly falling snow
Winter snow Aspenglow
As the winter days unfold
Hearts grow warmer with the cold
Peace of mind is all you know
Winter snow Aspenglow
Aspen is a life to live
See how much there is to give
See how strongly you believe
See how much you may receive
Smiling faces all around
Laughter is the only sound
Memories that can’t grow old
Winter snow Aspenglow
He was a terrific poet and the guitar even makes it sound like softly falling snow.
