Pete Braley – A Man of Many Hats
A local to the New Bedford area, Pete Braley is known to serve many roles in the community. For more than twenty-five years, he hosted the morning show on WBSM-AM where he discussed sports, news, and various other topics the people of the South Coast wanted to hear. After parting ways with the radio station, Pete decided to pursue other career avenues; starting the Braley Blog.
The blog became Pete’s way to connect with the people around him, writing about various topics ranging from current news to stories of his personal life. A popular topic is sharing the experience of becoming a grandfather. Titled, ‘Raising Grampy’, Pete discusses the beauty and importance of family by focusing on his first grandson, Liam.
While running the blog, he continued his love for writing and published two books. The Beagle Blogger and I’m Not Done Yet. His book, I’m Not Done Yet: Turning Disabilities into Possibilities, shares his inspiring story of working through curveball after curveball. From living with Alkaptonuria (or AKU), to losing his beloved job as a radio host, to surviving a stroke, Pete knocks each one out of the park; letting the world know he’s ‘Not Done Yet’.
In 2021, Pete and his youngest son, Matt, began The Pete Braley Show on Youtube. The live show was light-hearted, focusing on positive news stories and interesting surveys. After two years of ‘witty banter’, the channel developed into a solo show; where Pete features locals of the South Coast. While many people think Pete may have done it all, he defies all odds and continues to do what he loves: sharing his wisdom and telling the world he’s Not Done Yet!
