Hi everyone! It’s me, Liam, and today I made a decision. I have decided not to eat all of my Halloween candy in one sitting! I remember how Grampy used to steal all my peanut butter cups when he was living here.
Just kidding!
What I really decided was …it’s time for me to hand off the Raising Grampy duties to my cousin, Carson, in Massachusetts.
Grampy, and Grammy this time, are going to take care of Baby Carson when my Auntie goes back to work so I think it’s time.
Carson? I hope you know what you’re in for!
Yeah I figure it’s time. First of all, I’m down here in Texas and I only get to see the big guy two or three times a year. Plus, I’m not a kid anymore! I’m 6! And I’m getting busy with school and my karate lessons and kickboxing classes. I asked Grampy if he wanted to do my kickboxing practice with me but he was afraid he’d fall over.
Looking back, we had some good times.
So here’s my advice Carson:
Humor the guy and laugh at his jokes. You’ve heard of dad jokes? Grampy jokes are even older.
Get ready to share your candy at Halloween and Easter. I’ve never seen an adult with a bigger sweet tooth.
Don’t joke about his lack of hair. Believe it or not, I think he’s still sensitive about that.
Oh and don’t fight him at nap time. You may not need a nap but Grampy surely does. Just humor him and lay down.
A few things I can promise you:
He’s a terrific storyteller!
He read me a lot of books when I was little. And he makes a lot of cool sound effects. He also makes a lot of noise when he’s trying to stand up but that’s different.
He always seems to find plenty of fun things to do. Just when you start to get bored with something…he switches to something else. And he finds the greatest toys!
He’s a pretty good cook too. I realize you’re just having bottles right now but wait until he starts to introduce you to stuff. Has anyone told you about ice cream yet?
Oh and wait until you have a Fluffernutter!
We had Fluffernutter Friday’s every week.
He’s lots of fun in stores! He tries to buy you all kinds of stuff but your mommy will probably say no if she’s anything like my mom.
He finds some cool TV shows because he says it’s his job to introduce us to the classics.
But probably the best thing is just hanging out with Grampy. He talks to you a lot, even before you understand what he’s saying. He sings silly songs and makes funny faces.
But honestly… he’s the best friend you could ever have. I hope you have fun with him. Good luck “Raising Grampy!”
Oh and if it’s okay… can I hang out with him every now and then? I kinda miss the guy.

“Raising Grampy” now shifts to Carson. Carson is four months old and lives in Acushnet with his mommy, daddy and doggy Kenzie. Grammy and Grampy are taking care of Carson during the day as his mommy goes back to work.
