“Raising Grampy” is an occasional series written through the eyes on Pete’s 5-year old grandson Liam. Liam lives in Corpus Christi, Texas with his mom and dad. Grammy and Grampy try to visit every six months.
Hi! Pete here. I have a confession to make. I’ve been publishing these “Raising Grampy” blogs for about five years and…. you may not believe it… but I’VE been the one writing them. Not Liam. I’m sorry if I’ve misled you and I do try to never lie to you, but… I did. I hope we can still be friends.
I came down to visit my southern family March 6th and my daughter, Sarah, thought it was time that we let Liam actually write one. So here we go!
LIAM TAKES OVER
Grampy came for a visit here in Texas and I was SO EXCITED! My mom said I was silly for the whole week before he got here. I JUST GET SO EXCITED!
He flew on the blue airplane (Southwest). My mommy, daddy and me use the blue airplane whenever we travel. I have to touch the red heart on the side near the door every time I go to get on. A pilot was traveling with us once and he told me to do that for good luck whenever I get on so now I do it every time whenever we fly. My mom is so happy he told me that.

Grampy sat with me in the backseat when we picked him up at the airport. I talked all the way home about how excited I was that he was here in Texas. It was kind of late when we got home so we just had a snack and then went to bed. Grampy let me have a sleepover with him in the guest bed.
The next morning when we woke up Grampy had his coffee and I had my chocolate coffee. (Hot chocolate cooled with some milk.) Mommy let us watch some TV because it wasn’t a school morning. Grampy asked if we were going to watch “Paw Patrol” but I don’t watch that too much anymore. Now I like “Gigantasaurus” and “Young Jedi.”
The next day Grampy did his radio show from my playroom! Mommy woke me up for school and Grampy was already talking on the radio.

I sit on his lap while he talks to his friend Scott. Sometimes Grampy says funny things and I laugh. He even let me talk on the radio! He wears his big headphones and has a microphone on the desk and his computer. I have to leave to go to school before the radio show ends. I don’t know how they do it without me but, what can I say, I have to go to school.
We’ve been playing a lot of games while he’s been here. We played Star Wars Uno, Sorry and Candyland. Hungry Hippos was fun. I always get the blue hippo because blue is my favorite color.
We also played a game called Pop The Pig. Everybody takes a turn and has to put a burger in his mouth and then push down on the baker’s hat on his head. That makes his belly get bigger and bigger until it POPS! It’s so funny when it pops!
One day we went and played golf. We go to a real golf course because my daddy is teaching me to play golf.

It was a lot of fun on the golf course.

After golf we went out to lunch and Grampy and I traded hats.

Grampy said my hat was going to make him break out in a rash. Silly Grampy.
Oh I almost forgot to tell you…we took Grampy to the Quick Quack Car Wash. It’s so much fun!
Now we are just waiting for Grammy to get here and we can have even more fun!
