Even though Christmas has come and gone, I soon get to open one of my favorite presents! And I can’t wait!
It’s something I get every year around this time. It’s not a sweater. No it’s not another Christmas coffee mug (I got a few of those over the years). It’s something I can use every year. And, NO! It’s not socks and underwear.
We all get this gift.
I’m about to get a brand new book!
It’s a book that comes with 365 pages and there’s nothing written on any of them.
YET!
Here comes 2025 and I say bring it on!
2024 was fine. As usual we had our ups and we had our downs. We lost friends, we met new ones. There was sickness and there was health. I seem to remember having a bad head cold and staying home last New Year’s Eve. And guess who had a nasty head cold over Christmas? Yup! This guy!
Oh and we had that whole election thing this year. Yeah! That meant for a few crazy months!
I don’t think I’ve ever been one of those people who thought, “Glad this year is over. It was the worst!” Some have been worse than others but I have never felt like life suddenly changes when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st. You’re still going to have the same problems come January 1st if you keep repeating the same bad habits and bad decisions.
Every year I get excited wondering what I will write as I fill up my empty notebook. I don’t know what it will be but I have a pretty good idea about some of it.
We are expecting two new grandbabies next year! One will be in the first chapter and the other in Chapter Six.
I’m sure I’ll do my share of traveling this year. Probably every couple of chapters. Here’s hoping for smooth flights and on-time departures.
I’ll probably spend a good part of Chapter Three in south Texas again. The weather is much warmer, I get to hang out with my buddy Liam and I miss my favorite rib place.
My birthday will be in Chapter Seven, page 12. Number sixty-four this year and, yes, it feels really weird writing that number. Remember when we thought anyone who was over 30 was OLD?
Another Red Sox season will get going in Chapter Four. I wonder how long they’ll keep our attention this year?
The Patriots will start anew in Chapter Nine. Anything’s gotta be better than this season was.
So many unknowns. Just think about the things that come up every week or even every day that you don’t expect. I better keep a pen handy. Maybe a pencil when things suddenly change.
Here’s an idea: What do you say we meet back here next December? Just make sure you bring your notebook. I can’t wait to see what you write.
