“Raising Grampy” is an occasional series written through the eyes of Pete’s 4-year-old grandson. Liam lives in Corpus Christi, TX with his mommy and daddy.
Hi everyone! It’s me, Liam, and guess who came to Texas? Grampy’s here! He said the weather was cold and rainy in Massachu….. Machachu…. at Grammy’s house so he came here! Grammy couldn’t come because she has to work on the ambulance thing but we FaceTime her every day!
Grampy has been doing his radio show every couple of days.
I let him use my playroom for that. I’m not sure but I think he plays with my toys during commercials. I sit in with him every morning for a little bit before school.
We are having so much fun!
Speaking of school…. Grampy came to be a guest reader one day!
I introduced him to all of my friends. Grampy used his cane to show everyone where Texas was and then he showed them where his house is in Massachuchu.
Last Saturday we went to see a monster truck show. It was SO COOL! They even had a Megasaurus that ate cars and breathed fire!
Grampy even bought me a toy monster truck when the show was over.
We’ve been playing a lot. Grampy likes to sit in the sun in the backyard and the other day he told me it was time for spring training. Mommy and I got our baseball gloves and started playing catch. My T-ball team starts in two weeks so I have to get ready.
This week we had an Easter Egg Hunt at my school and Grampy came to watch!
Grampy called it organized chaos. I don’t know what that means.
I found lots of eggs!
I’ve been having sleepovers with Grampy in the guest room. I didn’t want him to be lonely. It’s a big bed and Grammy is not here with him so I keep Grampy company. He reads me a couple of bedtime stories every night then I go to bed. After I get up to get a cup of water. Then get up to go potty one more time. Then get up to make sure I fluff Grampy’s pillow.
We went for a nice walk the other day. Mommy took us to a place (The OSO Bay Wetlands Preserve) that had a cool playground. After I played for a while we went on a little hike.
While we were walking a rattle snake came out on the path!
I didn’t know my mommy could jump that high! We waited a few minutes while the snake went back into the woods and then mommy had me walk down the middle of the path and she wouldn’t let me pick flowers on the edge of the path anymore. I guess she thought we had enough flowers at home.
I’ve had a lot of fun with my Grampy. We play “Go Fish!” every day after school and play outside a lot on the weekends.
I don’t know why but Grampy refuses to try my tunnel. I think he’s afraid he’ll get stuck. Or never get back up.
We have another week to play before he gets back on the big airplane. The only thing that would make this visit better was if my Grammy was here too. I think Grampy feels that way too.
