Raising Grampy is a look at the world through the eyes of 1 year old Liam. Liam lives in Virginia Beach with his mommy and daddy. Pete is currently visiting and playing the role of Grampnanny.
Hi everyone! It’s me, Liam, and guess what I did with Grampy this weekend? Well mommy and daddy too.
I finally found out what a pumpkin patch was.
All week mommy had been saying, “We’re going to the pumpkin patch this weekend Mr. Man!” I would smile and shake my head because I know that makes her happy. All Grampy would say is, “And then we’ll wait for the Great Pumpkin to rise out of the pumpkin patch bringing toys to all who believe.” Silly Grampy.
So Sunday morning we all got ready and hopped in the car. We were going to go to a breakfast place we like but there was a line out the door. Mommy asked Grampy, “Would you like bagels or Krispy Kreme?” Grampy said, “Duh!”
Then we headed for the pumpkin patch.
Raising Grampy The Pumpkin Patch
We went to the Greenbrier Farms where they had all kinds of stuff. We waited in a line for a Hay Ride. I didn’t know what a hay ride was but then I found out you go for a ride while you sit on hay. I figured that out myself. Then I had to explain it to Grampy.
I sat with my dad.
Grampy said it was cool because they made these old school buses into wagons.
The hay-wagon-school-bus took us out to where the pumpkins were. We walked around a little and then…..there it was….. I found my pumpkin. It was like it was calling out to me.
It was a beautiful day at the pumpkin patch. Not too cold or too hot and I made sure my mommy had her sunglasses.
Mommy said when we got home we were going to paint the pumpkins. Grampy asked about carving them but I don’t think mommy trusts him with the knives.
Time to decorate
Mommy and daddy set me up outside. I don’t quite understand why but they took my clothes off.
After that it was bath time again! That always seems to happen after I play with stuff outside like this. Anyway it was fun and I now have my own pumpkin. Am I supposed to play with it? Dress it up? Introduce it to my stuffed animals? I’ll ask mommy.
Mommy and I talk about all kinds of stuff. Usually before bedtime. That’s when things get serious.
Ha ha! Just kidding!
I’m Getting Taller
I noticed I’m getting bigger.
I can almost reach the door handle so I won’t have to wait for Grampy to go outside. Of course this day it was raining but hey, I’m just practicing.
Grampy also says I’m trying to make everything a “ride on” toy.
I keep waiting for him to bend over and push me but I don’t think he’s figured it out yet.
That’s what we’ve been up to this week. Pumpkins and hayrides. I can’t wait to see what comes up next week. Grampy’s just hoping for more Krispy Kremes.
