Can It Be Done? A Shopping Experience

I have a serious question for you. It’s one that I have debated for quite some time now. Honestly.

My question?

Can a guy go into a craft store and not start goofing around? Can he be serious for the entire trip?

I’m still in Virginia Beach and went to Michaels with my daughter Sarah yesterday. We had Liam in the stroller so, of course, I took stroller duty and let’s just say Liam and I had fun. I’ve also acted the same way back home with Priscilla. I’m not sure if she enjoys having me along for these trips but I don’t think she’s ever complained.

Halloween Costume

We went out yesterday so that Sarah could get some things to help her make Liam’s Halloween costume. I won’t tell you much about the costume as I don’t want to steal any material from Liam. I’m sure he’ll tell you soon.

When we walked in Sarah said, “Okay, we need felt.” So obviously I went for the “glitter” aisle and tried to convince her that we needed the jumbo container. When we found the felt it happened to be right next to a display of “Googly eyes.” I found the largest pair, about the size of softballs, and positioned them on Liam’s head. “Whadya think? A good look?”

A 15-foot section of Christmas garland had to be hung all around Liam’s stroller. I thought it looked festive. He didn’t know what was going on.

Come on guys!

I did notice some other guys wandering through the store that did not look enthused. It was sad to see them being dragged along. You gotta let yourself go my friend and enjoy the craft store. The possibilities are endless.

Back in Massachusetts I’ve gone to Michaels and The Christmas Tree Shop with Priscilla. You could actually call it a fun Date Night when we go to the Christmas Tree Shop. It’s a good thing Priscilla has a plan or a list because I could easily blow the budget if left on my own. “An inflatable Santa on a surfboard! We HAVE to HAVE this!”

It’s also fun to people watch. I know many people enjoy their crafts and for some it can be a nice business on the side. My mother made beautiful ceramics for years and I have many friends who have made things for church fairs or summer festivals.

I was actually thinking that could be a fun job for me. Can you imagine if I was a buyer for a craft store? I could spend my entire day doing what I do occasionally—- sampling and checking out new products! Maybe Liam and I could be a team! It’s probably not as fun as it could be, a lot of jobs are like that. Oh well, for now I’ll just enjoy wandering the aisles.

I can’t be the only guy who does this. Am I?

No you are not the only one. If you look at my office you will see I am a frequent visitor to Michaels. IO really miss AC Moore though I also went there when it was in Dartmouth.

I LUV a good trip to the Christmas Tree Shop. When they were closed for a few months because of COVID I was jonesing to get back there! One of my favorite things to do is to peel off little stickers from products and put them on my shirt. You know the ones that say things like”feel me I’m soft” or “squeeze here”. Cracks me up every time!
