Hi everyone! It’s me, Liam. Wow! What a weekend! I think Grampy is still sleeping!
Today is actually my birthday. Grampy says we should have another cake. Silly Grampy! This weekend though, alllllll my aunties and uncles came to visit. Well just about all of them. My Abuelito in California couldn’t come with my auntie and uncle from there and my Uncle Sean couldn’t get time off from the Air Force. My daddy says the Air Force is kind of like the Navy but not as good.
The weekend started with what my mom called my “baptism.” We went to the church for the first time since March. It was just my family and they all had to wear those silly things on their face and none of them sat close together. I guess they had a fight on the drive over. The minister lady put some water on my head and said some stuff. I guess she thought I hadn’t washed up that morning but I think I did. I think.
Later I went for a walk with my Aunty Kat. She’s my Godmother and Uncle Josh is my Godfather. I don’t know what that means but I like my Aunty Kat. And Uncle Josh.
The next day it was my birthday party!!!! I’ve never had a birthday party so I was excited. Everybody helped put up decorations while I had to take a stupid nap with Grampy. He never complains about nap time but I wanted to play with the decorations.
If you can’t tell, we had a Mickey Mouse theme. We ate hot dogs and played the “Hot Dog Song.”
It came time for this thing called “presents.” Have you ever had presents? It’s pretty cool! People GIVE you stuff! Look what Grammy and Grampy bought me.
I got my own car! We don’t have to always use mommy’s car now. It even has a handle on the back for Grampy and it comes with a cup holder for his coffee. We’re really going to explore Virginia Beach now.
I also got my own tool bench so I can help daddy or Uncle Doug.
And I got some blocks for mommy to pick up every night. I got lots of neat things. I should thank my uncles and aunts for helping to put it all together.
The only thing I don’t understand is….what’s the rush? Every time my mommy opened a gift, she would want me to open another one. I just wanted to play! When I got the car from Grammy and Grampy I just wanted to ride around but nope! They took it away and gave me another box.
After presents I couldn’t figure out why mom and dad took my clothes off. I looked at Grampy and he still had his clothes on. You never know with that guy.
It was cake time! This was the first time I ever had cake. When it was Grampy’s birthday this summer they wouldn’t give me any cake. Mommy and daddy wanted to wait until my birthday.
I admit I was a little confused. Mom WANTED me to play with my food.
The adults had cupcakes so they really couldn’t play with their food.
They ate their food while I had tubby time. I was a little upset because I usually have to go to bed right after tubby time and I wanted to play with my toys. I was happy when mommy took me back downstairs.
Thank you everybody who came to my party and the church thing. I was a little tired after each day.
“Raising Grampy” is a look at the world through the eyes of Liam who is now 1! Liam lives in Virginia Beach with his mommy and daddy. Pete is there in the role of Grampnanny.
