It’s always wonderful when we’re under the same roof.
I have a friend who has mentioned this before about how wonderful it feels when the whole family is under the same roof after they’ve grown up and moved out. It’s difficult to get together at times and it seems even more so as the years go by. There are spouses involved and jobs and with us, the U.S. Navy.
In case you’re a new reader (Welcome!), we had four children. Two of them are married and one other is engaged. One son, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law are in the Navy and live in Virginia Beach including our oldest daughter and grandson. They all have jobs and one is still in college so getting them all together is no easy fete.
Like many other families we are scattered around the country a bit and everybody has a busy life with their jobs and interests.
Still, when we can arrange it, it’s wonderful when we all get together. It just feels right. And the amazing thing is that they always seem to pick up right where they left off. It’s like no time has passed.
They’re all a little older now, the language might be a bit saltier and the beverages might be stronger than juice boxes but it’s fun to just sit and listen to them. They may have formed different opinions over the years but, so far, I’m glad to see they can debate without any major outbursts.
They’ll soon be heading back to their corners of the world and their own obligations but for at least a few days it’s nice to all be together again.
