Anybody know a good lawyer?
Hi guys. It’s me…Oscar the Beagle. Really, I was just curious…. and maybe hungry.
It’s been a busy week here at the house. I think I told you that Uncle Doug and Aunty Marla came up from Virginia with their dog Roscoe. Sarah came up too with some nice lady. They called her a “mother-in-law” I think. I don’t know what a mother-in-law is but she seemed nice. There were a lot of people here. It was so busy Grampy actually had to stay awake all day.
Roscoe was pretty cool. He slept in the guest room with his mom and dad and they kept his food bowl in there too. I think. I kept looking for it just to make sure he had one. You see, he doesn’t have meal time like me and Baxter. Uncle Doug and Aunty Marla work weird hours at the Navy place so Roscoe just “grazes” all day. I think it’s a European thing.
Oh remember how I told you I tried his bed to make sure it fit?
Don’t worry, he tried mine.
So here’s what happened: One night last week, all the humans went to Aunty Kat’s house for dinner. I think I told you before how Aunty Kat and Josh don’t like dog hair so we don’t get invited there. Well excuuuuussee me! Baxter and me (and our dog hair) stayed home and Roscoe stayed in the guest room. They were gone forever!
It was like dark time came and then bed time and still they were gone. I got bored. And maybe a little mad. Of course I was hungry, I’m always hungry.
I decided to wander upstairs to see if anybody had dropped a cookie or if Uncle Matt left the Cheese Itz out again. His door was closed, dang it.
In Grammy and Grampy’s room there was all kinds of stuff. It looked like Christmas again with all these packages all wrapped up. I guess they were for Sarah, they had a “Shower” for her. I think that’s what they called it. Grammy and Grampy have a shower every day, I guess Sarah doesn’t do that.
Anyway, at Christmastime I remembered that there was a box of Milk Bones wrapped up for me so I figured I was getting some more. Maybe it was Christmas again and I hadn’t noticed. (I hope I didn’t miss the Charlie Brown Christmas special. I like that one.)
So yeah I tore into gift after gift after gift but I couldn’t find any Milk Bones.
That was about the time the humans came home. (Finally!) I must have gotten a piece of wrapping paper stuck to my foot because Grammy noticed it on the floor and said, “Where did this come from?” She went upstairs and looked at the presents and…….. well let’s just say she was a bit upset. I mean, it was kind of like a poop on the floor times three.
I heard her say, “You’re lucky your Grampy loves you” and, “Next time I should put you in a crate.” (Um, crates are for puppies!)
Uncle Matt made me lay down in the corner. Every time I got up he put me right back. I slept real close to Grampy that night.
I didn’t ruin any of the gifts. Once I got it open and saw that I couldn’t eat it, I moved on to the next one. I’m not crazy! I wasn’t going to eat a baby swing. They don’t digest too well.
Aunty Kat had to rewrap everything and I wasn’t allowed in the room while she did it.
I’m sorry Grammy. I wish I could buy you some flowers or something but I can’t get my own debit card. And Grampy’s cheap. It’s that darn “animal instinct.” I can’t help it. I was bored, lonely, and did I mention hungry?
The shower went fine I guess even though she didn’t look that wet when it was over. I didn’t ruin any gifts and everything seems to be ok.
Everyone has gone home and once again it’s just me and my buddy Baxter.
