Well we’ve turned the corner and it’s full speed ahead! Now that Halloween has come and gone, the holiday season is next!
I know, it used to be that the holiday season began on Thanksgiving but it seems like Halloween is the kickoff now. If you have Sirius XM I guess there is already a 24-hour Christmas music station. I’m also seeing articles about decorating your house early. I guess they found someone who claims it’s healthy for you. Here’s one story.
It’s a little too soon for me. I was just whistling “Holly Jolly Christmas ” the other day when my wife said, “Hey! Thanksgiving first! Then Christmas!” Yes dear.
I do think that Lite 105, or Cool 102 or Magic 106 will switch to Christmas around Veteran’s Day.
The stores already have the Christmas decorations up but that’s been the case for a few weeks now.
I actually LOL’D when I saw that display today. “Get your Thanksgiving needs now.” I have a favorite dish that I make year round that needs the little onion rings. Those are tough to find any other time of year.
You did know that the woman who created the Green Bean Casserole died recently, didn’t you ? Let’s all have a moment of silence for Dorcas Riley at the Thanksgiving table. She was 92. Here’s a link to her story.
I’m seeing some of my church family is heading south for the winter. I hope it’s a peaceful few months for you and we’ll think of you when we’re house-bound, encased in ice for a week.
I’ve read some long-range forecasts that say we’ll have a mild winter and some that say it will be a cold winter. My prediction? Some weeks will be warm, some will not. I’ll be house sitting in Virginia Beach the first week of February. I just miiiiigghhhttt have to stretch that until May.
Actually they get snow down in Virginia Beach but they don’t know what to do with it. My kids just laugh. “We’re getting an inch! Close the schools! Close the roads! No work for a week!”
I guess it’s time for me to move my morning walks indoors. I usually get a six month membership at a gym for November through May. I haven’t been on a treadmill watching “Kelly and Ryan” for awhile now. Actually I listen to music or podcasts. “Hey that Pete Braley Podcast helps the time go by. Hmmm.”
Enjoy the holidays my friends and make it a point NOT to get stressed out! Slow and steady and focus on the good things this time of year. I know there’s shopping and wrapping and baking and cleaning. You’ll get it done.
Don’t forget to ask for help. Don’t expect your husband to KNOW he should help you. For some reason we’re not wired that way. You need to tell us.
I’ve heard many women say, “But he SHOULD know.” You’re probably right but, for whatever reason, we don’t.
We may not ask for directions but we can usually follow them pretty good.
