Woof Wednesday: Bath Night

Hi guys! It’s me….Oscar the Beagle.

Well grampy’s back! The big guy came home at the end of last week after being away for a long time taking care of Sarah’s puppies. Yeah, Baxter and I are nice like that, sharing the guy.

He came home and we barked and barked and jumped up on his lap. We kinda have to do that for the guy so he feels important. It’s a small thing but I think he likes it.

I forgot to tell you that last week we had Bath Night! If you asked me which one was worse: Bath Night or a trip to the Vet, that would be a tough choice.

It usually starts with Grammy coming over to take my collar off. She never takes my collar off unless it’s bath time. That’s usually when Baxter and I take off to try and hide. I can usually go behind the couch but Bax has a little trouble hiding his hundred pounds of fur.

While it’s good that I’m small enough to hide, it also means she can pick me up and that’s what she does before she puts me in the tub. That’s so humiliating.

I pretty much just sit there. It’s like being stuck outside in the rain but the rain’s not cold. And this rain has soap. Stupid soap.

Grammy says I sit there with an “I hate my life” look. It’s just upsetting because I spend so much time rolling in the grass and getting my smell “just right” and then she comes along and ruins it.

I do like it when she rubs me all over. That kinda feels good. I don’t like it when she washes my face though. Trust me, there’s no food stuck on my face. I would’ve found that! She washes my snout and my head and then the rinse. It’s like staring up at the rain. It’s a warm rain though. I think it takes like an hour, maybe two!

When we’re all done she tries to get me to shake the water off. I figure this is my turn to get even. I shake once but the minute I get out of tub I shake a few times and get everything wet! HAHA!

Grammy does bring out a towel and she rubs me all over. That’s kinda nice. Then it’s time to run off and rub my face all over the couch and the doggie beds. I try to get the wet off.

Then it’s Baxter’s turn. I feel sorry for the guy because he’s got all that fur. I think it takes him three days to dry off!

The good news is we get a cookie when it’s all done. I think we deserve the whole box if you ask me. Fortunately Bath Night doesn’t happen too often unless we roll in a good batch of stink. It’s hard to find a good batch of stink.

I think the humans do bath night every day! What a waste! And they don’t even shake the water everywhere or rub up against the sofa.

Sometimes I feel sorry for my people. They don’t know how to have fun.
